Working with an advisor

How the Advisor plan works, how advisors invite clients or set up plans for them, and how clients keep control of their data.

Updated

Financial professionals can use the app with their clients on the Advisor plan. Clients stay in control of their own data throughout.

For advisors

The Clients screen has:

  • Advisor plan and Seats. Your plan and how many client households you're using.
  • Invite a client. Enter a client's email and choose Send invitation. The client chooses whether to share their household with you.
  • Set up a plan for a client. Choose Create household to build a plan yourself, then hand it over when it's ready.
  • Your clients. Choose Open to work in a client's plan, Hand over to transfer a plan you set up, or Remove to leave a household.
  • Pending invitations. Choose Revoke to cancel an invitation.

Each client household you're a member of uses one seat. Households with a seat get paid-plan features while your Advisor plan is active. See the FAQ for seats and pricing.

For clients

When an advisor invites you, you'll see Invitation from your advisor. Sign in, then choose Share my household to give your advisor access to your existing plan, or Accept the plan if your advisor set one up for you. Choose Not now to decline.

You decide what your advisor can do:

  • In Settings, under Household, choose Make view only or Allow editing.
  • Choose Remove access to remove your advisor at any time.

Clients own their data. If the advisor's plan ends, your household and its data stay with you. Your household moves to the free plan unless you subscribe.

Responsibilities

The app is a planning tool. It doesn't provide investment, tax or legal advice to advisors or clients. Advisors are responsible for their own client relationships, including any professional, regulatory or record-keeping obligations.
